Philippe Furstenberg

Philippe Furstenberg recently retired from the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) after serving 25 years as a Supervisory Special Agent and Deputy Assistant Director. Over the course of his career, Philippe served internationally as a Regional Security Officer in Sri Lanka, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and as the Director of the International Law Enforcement Academy in El Salvador. Domestically, Philippe served in the Boston Field Office, DS’ Criminal Fraud Investigations Branch, on the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, with DS’ International Programs and Training Directorates, as Chief of Overseas Criminal Investigations, as Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Region, and as the DSS Deputy Assistant Director in charge of Intelligence and Threat Analysis.


Throughout his career, Philippe focused on collaboration with the private sector through the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). In that context, Philippe helped businesses navigate a myriad of security and investigative challenges.

At present, Philippe maintains a top-secret U.S. security clearance and is eligible to work on special missions for the State Department.


During his career with the State Department, Philippe was awarded four Superior Honor awards, three Meritorious Honor awards, and three Meritorious Step Increases; he served as a State Department Powell Fellow and on the DS Assistant Secretary’s Advisory Council.


Philippe graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.  He also received a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and is an active member of the bar in the District of Columbia.
